Lake Ouachita State Park Caddo Bend Trail 10/25/2008

I had never been here before but it looked good based on the website. It is a peninsula sticking deep into the lake with the trail going the perimeter of it. The total length is about 4 miles and is not easy walking in many places. It took me about 70 minutes to get here from my WLR home. The nearby visitor center opens at 8 in case you need a restroom after the drive but there are campgrounds and other facilities nearby if they are closed. It took me about 2.25 hours to walk the loop. It wasn’t as birdy as I hoped although it was a good workout.

Bell Slough (south) and Two Rivers Park 10/19/2008

In case you are paying attention and think I did this yesterday, you are correct, mostly. Today I walked the waterfowl rest are section of Bell Slough and then went to TRP hoping to get the Clay-colored Sparrow. Still now new life bird but I’ve certainly gotten plenty of first-of-seasons this weekend. At Bell Slough, I walked the perimeter of the waterfowl rest area which took about 2 hours. At TRP, I made a loop through the grassy area to the north of the trail and to the horse trail area taking about 90 minutes to do so.
