Magness Lake January 20, 2013

Sunday afternoon, Angie, Sam and I took off for Magness Lake to see the swans.  We saw them but honestly I was kind of disappointed. In visits past, I’ve seen Trumpeter, Tundra, and Mute Swans as well as Canada and Cackling Geese and Snow and Ross’s Geese all in one visit. Today there was none of that.  We saw Trumpeter Swans, Mallards, Bufflehead and Ring-necked Duck and not much else. However, it was a sunny day and the temperature was acceptable.  If I don’t make it back this year, it was a good way to spend an afternoon but I will try to make it back again before they leave. Below are some pictures, click to enlarge.

Rufous Hummingbird January 20th, 2013

I borrowed my wife’s new camera again and went out to Clancy Court to see the reported Rufous Hummingbird. I didn’t have to wait long. Within three minutes he showed up.  The Sun was just illuminating the many feeders there so the many visiting birds were bathed in nice photo friendly sunlight.  Here are a few of the images.
