I decided to follow the narrative from “A Birder’s Guide to Arkansas” and explore this lake which I had little experience with. It took about an hour from my house to the first stop. It was cloudy and about 65 degrees the entire morning. I started at the lower “reregulating” dam, then went to the main dam, as well as the cut-out for Prairie Warbler, then the Highway 7 Recreation Area where the peninsula beyond the driveway was submerged, then finally the state park where the Green Heron Trail was closed due to high water.
